What strongholds are holding you back in life? Guilt, resentment, self-pity, pride, rejection, defeat, performance, appearance, materialism, these are just a few of the strongholds that Max Lucado writes about in his new book “Glory Days”. When Family Christian sent the book “Glory Days by Max Lucado” for me to review I was excited, Max Lucado was coming to my church to preach about Glory Days the next weekend, and it was a life changer of a sermon just like his book. You can watch the sermon here!

My husband has been working a lot this past year and hasn’t been able to make it to church with us very much, this can become hard on a marriage and the person who has to miss. As believers we go to church for encouragement and community, and most of all to further our relationship with Christ, but when someone does not have that they forget after time what it is to go to church.
I found myself taking my children to church by myself. Something I never thought I would have to do. I was sad and asked God why He wasn’t changing our circumstances. I saw my husband losing hope little by little, working so hard and never getting ahead, the frustration and fatigue were setting in and taking its toll not only physically but spiritually. He felt as if God forgot about him.
The weekend Max Lucado was coming to speak at our church my husband finally had a Saturday night off and our church has services on Saturday evening. He expressed he wanted to go, but I was bitter and tired and just brushed him off wondering “why does he want to go know” little did I know what God had planned, then I went to lay down for a few.
Does God ever convict you when your quietly laying in bed trying to rest?
He convicted me in a big way. How could I complain to HIM if I wasn’t willing to listen and trust in what He was telling me to do?
So I got up out of bed and went to apologize to my husband, he openly forgave me. We gathered our kids and went to church.
Max Lucado started the sermon, it was a life changing, hope giving, encouraging sermon. Exactly what my husband and I have needed to hear.
He spoke about Joshua and the walls of Jericho. He symbolized the walls as strongholds in our lives, the walls that separate us from our Glory Days. You see Joshua never had to ram or attack Jericho, he waited and did exactly what God told him to do, and he never asked God how long it would take to bring the walls down. Joshua was faithful and fully trusted God to tear the walls down. After seven days God delivered Jericho to Joshua and fulfilled all of his promises.
If he did it for Joshua He will do it for me!
The walls of frustration started to fall that night, a new hope for my marriage was birthed, and my husband found that GOD has not forgotten about him.
It is all about our human mindset, will our anger and frustrations keep us from peace and rest? Our mindset loves to mock us. Our mind will build walls that will separate us from our Glory Days.
Our glory days represent new chapters in our life bringing us out of our wilderness, healing marriages and relationships, and giving us new hope to continue the fight against Satan who tries to destroy us everyday. God has already won the battle for us, we just need to change our mindset. Tell yourself the truth, do not believe the lies. This is spiritual warfare.
I love the truth that Max spoke about saying: “Every conflict at its root is a contest with the devil.” Use the weapons of God: 2 Corinthians 10: 3-4 “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but divine power to destroy strongholds.”
We need to receive our inheritance from GOD, break down your joy sucking walls of Jericho, take control of our thought life, and be steadfast. Our Glory Days are coming soon! Be courageous and strong.
So my family is excited about our Glory Days that are coming. We are changing our mindset and waging war against the devil, Satan will not steal our inheritance, we are marching waiting for our walls to fall. We want to use each fallen stone as a stepping stone to what God has for us.
We are excited for our GLORY DAYS!
Are you letting your walls keep you from your glory days?
